They had these two bunkbeds yeah in the room and it was likecrammed into there he bought in theseloft beds with desks underneath and forChristmas and there were these beautifulthings they really wanted and they’regetting of age now they’re starting touse desk and in order to do that inorder to accommodate that they can playhit the rearrange of the room and itmade the perfect time to do an impromptuinventory of essentially everything theyown and and the question that we have toask ourselves and I got this from ourfriend Patrick Rowan we just finishedinterviewing him for the the theatercrow cut of our documentary minimalismand he has a daughter and a wife and thequestion he always asks is is this wherethis belongsdoes this belong here and it wasinteresting because I found that mydoctor was doing the same thing with histwo daughters going through each item inthe room and asking them where does thisbelow that’s awesome that makes me thinkof an attendee at our tour during art100 City tour in 2014 god it’s like solong ago. Go and and also startbeing a a role model in that sense forfor your child as well and and not justsaying here’s what we’re doing butshowing here’s how I’m letting go andletting go of attachment to these thingsbut as the month progresses with the30 day minimalism game it becomes moredifficult day ten you’re getting rid of10 items day twelve twelve items day 1717 items and so it progressively getsmore difficult now whoever goes thelongest throughout the month wins if youboth make it to the end of the monththen you’ve you’ve both won becauseyou’ve gotten rid of 500 items and Ithink that’s a pretty good startand the cool thing about it is for mewhen I let go of one item over thecourse of 30 days one item a day overover 30 days I ended up letting go ofway more than 30 items because once youget that momentum embracing minimalismgets easier by the day and it becomes asort of good addiction now realizingthough that getting rid of the stuff isnot the point I I think the stuff issort of the initial bite at the Applethat changes everything.
