Back in the 60’s my mum shopped using her, (reusable) shopping bag. It wasnt made from plastic, it would have been heavy cloth. Fresh vegetables were not pre-packed in plastic. If they were packaged by the Dabbing Reindeer Ugly Christmas Sweater it would have been in brown paper bags, (recyclable or in her case as there was no recycling then, biodegradable). Drink and milk containers were all glass and were returned or collected. We dont seem to have progressed in caring for our environment.

What can I do to help the oceans? it makes me sick to my stomach. How can we do this to our own amazing planet and sea life. I’m so ashamed. Or the government just ban the pruduction on grocery plastics. That would be easier. the government thing would be easier.But that would endanger trees as demand for paper would rise.So it’s better this way. It works out cheaper in the long run. And your children and grandchildren will thank you for it.

Reusable shopping bags are actually not quite as environmentally friendly as they seem. To offset the production of the materials used for the bag and the bag’s own production, you’d have to use each bag approx. 300 time. Just to break even. Paper bags are better, and are biodegradable. Christian Heinz what we believe gets recycled and what actually does get recycled is apparently quite different. I’ve been reading a lot of articles that say plastic is not being recycled much at all. I’m so shocked by this, completely taken by surprise. I always thought plastic was recyclable – I still can’t believe this. Why aren’t governments taking action?? I dread to think of the poor animals and sealife affected by this.

People are making SERIOUS bank out of it – half of them used to be trawler fishmen. Such innovation can help a lot to some extent. If all individuals could be sensitized about the problem there would be significant changes in the environment. Unfortunately, this looks like it would not be possible for everyone to be in action. I feel sorry for the wildlife who are affected by plastic, and the Dabbing Reindeer Ugly Christmas Sweater that may have eaten in because of the huge amount of plastic that ends up in the oceans. Not to mention the food chain, I mean you wouldn’t be having plastic for breakfast, lunch or dinner. But that is the reality of it and if we don’t clean both our oceans and beaches, this will likely continue I am afraid to say. This is something simple we all can all take action on in the U.K. and we can take up our role as citizens and make a change.
