Can’t believe i have to ask. But what is the story arc of the ad? Black to white to asian, but the peeling off the shirt symbolic of? Legit trying to figure it out and am drawing a blank. I dont see anything racist here. I think its just telling us that dove is for everyone regardless of race. Let us not please take things out if context. Let us stop relating everything to racism or being a racist. It seems that people are getting more and more sensitive lately that even things like this bothers them a lot..

Insensitive yeah, there’s a lot of racial tension going on and their marketing director and team might have lost their job… But racist, nah. Especially if the woman continues to transform race. I’m sure if the white woman turned into a black woman then an asian woman the world would still have an issue with this ad.

Should’ve just put them all together dancing happily in some water or something if they mean to praise diversity and flexibility for all skin types. Missed the mark? Their art director is a gd idiot, how could this ever get this far? They were doing so well including women of all shapes and sizes, this never shouldve gotten off off the drawing board.

How could they not see it is insulting? It’s been shortened and taken out of context. There’s a second transformation, when the white woman turns into a hispanic ( or asian) woman. Why leave this out? Is it because the second change weakens the case for racism?

Since i have little to no idea what racism looks like, given that i’m not on the receiving end of it and don’t ever deliberately deliver it, i’ll defer to those that know better than i. I haven’t seen the ad, either. It sounds like dove has pulled the ad and apologized, so hopefully that means they will be more aware in the Don’t Underestimate Me Darlin’ I Can Go From Lady To Alabama In 2.5 Seconds Shirt.
