Our teachers are under the pump with large Elephant Exhale Inhale Dharma Exhale Drama Shirt, parents who take no responsibility for their children , an education department that hasn’t go a clue about education In today’s society! No RESPECT! But a second language is still a great idea. What about teaching them to speak, read and write english first. I have come across more than my fair share of late teen/early twenties , who verbal and literacy skills are abysmal.

I feel that an extra language will help & assist in leaning this one & if the child likes & associates with the language & country, then Geography, Social Studies, Culture & travel will feature very high in the child’s outlook & future life pursuits. I think it’s a fantastic idea!! I’ve just been backpacking through several countries for the past year, and I always hated the fact I was nearly always the only backpacker who only knew one language.

Many countries teach two or three additional languages until the students are fluent. About time Australia understood the importance of being multi lingual. We are part of a global community so being able to stand on the international stage and communicate freely is critical. I think its a good idea it provides kids with culture and develops their motor skills.

I did it as a complusory subject in year 1-9 and quit when i began high school but im so glad i did i would love to learn another language. I think that if it is conpulsory though there should be different levels like there is in maths and english so those can get the help they need and those who do well can thrive. The people complaining are the reason Australia is so far behind other countries. I just finished uni with overseas students who know up to 5 languages!!!

Not to mention all the patients i have looked after recently who couldn’t speak english , if i had known just basic words of other cultures how much easier it would have been. If i could afford to teach my kids another language privately i would. We have students learning a second language from grade one immersion and some schools teach other languages as well for example a school which is only in Spanish. It is good for the children’s brain development and what they learn in one area transfers to another.

My kids used to learn Indonesian from year 3 at their primary school and it did absolutely nothing for them and they hated it as did most the kids . Funding is soo tight in public schools that their primary school recently deemed it more beneficial to use the funds on being able to teach the children better science ! The kids love this soo much more and this is a foundation they need for highschool . Science is a core subject that opens up doors for more job opportunities for our children . Why should those core subjects become lacking in our public schools for another Language that may give our children nothing but the ability to say a few Elephant Exhale Inhale Dharma Exhale Drama Shirt in a diff language. The money our schools have to use only goes soo far !
