We do what we have to do for our kids. As we already know they are not abnormal just “different”. So the things that bring them joy and comfort are “different” as well. It’s how he personally relates to our crazy world. So …continue to step out of your comfort zone for your boy as I try very hard to do for mine, as they are expected by society to step out of theirs on a daily basis. And I’ve learned that what we think they should be doing is not what they are happy with and it’s more about what we expect rather than what they are totally content with. You are an amazing warrior mother, and you know him best! You’re writing a book? My God Is Bigger Than Cancer Shirt would love to read it. Hope you guys had a great thanksgiving ! People don’t realize how common and deadly eloping is and how easy a child can slip away even in a room of watchful adults. No judgement…just prayers and love for their healing.Rip sweet boy…what a loss. I’ll do one more tribute to Pop Pop, for his birthday, and move on: last winter Ryan bolted out the emergency exit of the gym during special soccer when I went by myself with the boys. The following Tuesday, this was the scene. This picture is filled with so much love to me and definitely solidifies his status as best Pop Pop ever! It definitely does “take a village”

Something sweet just happened. Me and Ry run to the mall for something quick, so and right outside we hear the telltale sound: Santa’s bells. Ry’s ears go up like a collie’s. We walk over, he’s alone. Ryan walks right over to him, passes him and straight to his fake gift bag, he’s going through it Santa’s asking him what he wants for Christmas. I decide not to tell him. (Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.) Now Ry onto the ornaments on Santa’s tree. Santa still trying with him. Every once in a while My God Is Bigger Than Cancer Shirt points at him and says “you Santa” lest he not know just based on the red suit and beard he’s wearing. Santa says to him (but mostly me) “I can see Ryan’s a special boy.”
