Consider it home schooling. You can always make up the school work. It is better to let your kids know you told the school the Truth about the trip instead of lying and saying they were staying out of school because they were sick. It sickens me that a school thinks they have control over whether we can take our kids out of school for a family vacation, it is not always feasible to take a vacation over Christmas or spring break when everyone else has the time off work and the prices are jacked up so you can’t afford it.

It is about money. In order for schools and districts to get federal money, students must be in school 180 days per school year.
