So black, hispanic, asians or any non-american kids, shouldn’t wear cowboy costumes while american kids shouldn’t run around in storm trooper or darth vader costumes since that appropriate the third reich in space ….what a pile of bull.  I don’t see a problem with it as long as they’re not painting their face brown why man it a big deal, u have asians and latinas as elsa etc etc just don’t try n change ur skin color to another race i think thats y lol get mad.

It’s only play pretend. You dress as someone or something that you can’t be for the joy of it. Just for a night. There is no malicious intent involved. I’m sure that most, if not all, kids don’t have a single clue about dressing up for the purposes of purporting racist ideas.

Essentially, cultural appropriation is not a thing, especially in the juvenile environment. This is just in lack of a better term, promoting racism. By saying “well you’re not this, so you can’t dress like that.” or you can only dress up as your own race or culture. Wtf people, use your brains for once!

No it’s not ok. People must only dress up as someone who is also the same race as they are. Guess what; if your kid is white and they like moana/want to dress up as her, you’ve got a white supremacist in the making! (please note that was all sarcasm). Of course, its not racist or inappropriate for kids, or anyone to admire someone and want to dress up as them, even if they are a different race.
