For those who didn’t read she’s advocating for a daycare facility to be put in place for working mothers so they can be closer to their children. This is in a country where it’s not uncommon to have employees do a lot of overtime work. Adding commutes from home to work makes the day even longer and takes more time away from their families. A lot of people are saying she decided to have a child so she should stay home and put her career on hold.

That’s probably a contributing factor to Japan’s low birth rate, couples have to choose between a career or having a child. The point was that there should be support for new mothers at the place she works. Interesting… and in Canada our members of parliament can ask permission to bring babies to work areas if the need arises… and in Australia, senators are permitted to breast feed their babies in government chamber.
