I watched the way my parents/step-father raised my and was revolted. Never ending debt, lack of real world knowledge. No learning curve, and a lack of empathy. My two half brother’s both had psycological problems growing up, the older one having tried to commit suicide four times. My mother and step-father stole the money left to me by my father when he died. I didn’t just leave my family behind, I disowned them. I’ve known a few black sheep and they are usually the ones who go on to be the most successful. The history behind the term “black sheep of the family” as I was told and was passed down the generations was based on the past practice of the oldest child inheriting the wealth of the family. That child could then decide weather or not to pass it on but ultimately the youngest was left without and he became he black sheep. Sometimes it’s just refusing to live in or participate in a dysfunctional or toxic family dynamic anymore.
