Ryk van Donselaar correction there is currently no defense and that was said in my comment. because we are unable to defend against something now does not necessarily mean we will never have a solution. Trust me this is on a scale for which there’s no defense. If we can detect and then see this across a universe then being anywhere within a 1000 or more light years will be deadly. Ryk van Donselaar yeah – i’m with Ryk… unless your technology involves teleporting us far, far away or bending space-time, or even calling a Qwa-Portal by the green lantern’s ring… we’re kinda screwed if it starts getting really bright.

It won’t matter if we eventually colonize Mars, the scope of the radiation wave will be so unimaginably large that there will be nowhere in the solar system to hide.  I’m working on a theory that a more massive Universe is ..or about to merge with ours and its gravity is so immense our universe cannot escape it ….like galaxies when they merge except these galaxies our actual universes and some more massive than others …so far the maths is predicting my hypothesis. Do you mean to say that there are other universes…. if so then what would you call A collection of Universes in a single word .

Like a bad fairy tale; then we found out our ‘universe’ is simply complex words on a book of some giant alien kid who’s about to turn the page.  I had wondered just how close an event like this could be before it got ‘dangerous’. It sounds like it would have to be ‘just down the block’ in our stellar neighborhood for it to be something to worry about. The probability of earth’s destruction by the collision of two neutron stars in our proximity (gamma rays) falls below the probability of our planet’s annihilation by the human race.

Before reading the article, I’m guessing it will be a VERY VERY long time before the effects of this collision will affect us, Probably by then, life as we know it will no longer be on this rock. A calamity is the resultant effect of the disruptions of the natural flow of energy and order of matter which was supposed to be sitting laminar in space-time under a stable undisturbed gravity but due to the gravitational waves generated from the collisions, it will affect everything in the universe and to Earth Ofcourse. The causes of collision of that neutron star is beyond our minds can comprehend, it is pre destined by the infinitely superior spirit Einstein had said before in 1954.
