I don’t understand how Hugh amounts of funds are raised for cancer research, but when new treatments are found as a result of the research, the companies producing the medicines then charge extortionate amounts for the products. So God wants me to let him save me from something he will send me to if I don’t let him save me? Religion is such a laugh.

There’s a few answers to this. Firstly, companies rarely receive funding from charities. Most of that money goes to academic researchers who do very fundamental research; make 50 different drugs and see which work in cells. Companies then take this research and do the expensive drug development and testing bits. Secondly, the price of developing cancer drugs is incredibly high because so many fail. A company will have to screen hundreds if not thousands of drugs before finding one which works.
