Talk to them and tell them what is going to happen and tell them that everything is going to be ok. That used to be us ,but we’ve learned to just scoop him up and straight in the carrier ,as good as gold at the vets and will walk back in the box by himself, but must admit it’s a huge sigh of relief when it’s all over. No problems! A previous cat however was near impossible to get into the carrier, and screamed blue murder whenever he had to go in the car!!! My cat fights against going in the box but when we get to the vets she goes to the back of the box, then has to be dragged out. Once the vet has finished with her she will walk straight in to the box no trouble.

My cat is used to her carrier being around because it is always right there next to her cat tree, open, so she can go in and out of it any time. So when I want to put her in it, she doesn’t think much of it. She just lets me. (And this is a pretty upsettable cat. She HATES getting her nails clipped, etc.

Yep, both my cats love the carriers and are really good in the car. I hope to figure that one out, but the carrier is cool.) I put the carrier, opened, on the washing machine in the utility room where she can’t see it. Pick up the cat and pet her while walking to the utility room, then put her in the carrier backwards so she can’t see it.

I have better success if I put the carrier in the bathroom with the opened end facing up, then coax im into the bathroom, and shut the door. I then “lower” him into the carrier. This seems to work best for me! But it’s so stressful.

Some how my cats know. When I’m thinking of getting them in kennels for a trip to the vet, they take off and keep their distance from me. Up end the carrier so the door faces up, scuff the cat at the back of it’s neck, supporting it’s butt and lower into the carrier. Close the door quickly. Nasa Gay Pride Logo Shirt is what we are taught as a Veterinarian Nurse. It usually works. They usually freeze when scuffed because that is how their mom carries them.
