I often noticed mom knew.. She just couldn’t say it.. Then she would get agitated because she knew that she was supposed to answer the question.. Oh my goodness.. It brings back so many memories.. Rest in gods eternal peace mom. My mother passed away monday from this disease.

It was 7 years from when we could confirm this diagnosis. I called it the long goodbye and now that she is gone i miss who she had been even more.  Your story touched my heart this morning. I’ve seen it 1st hand many times. I help take care of them.

As my mom’s sole caregiver for her last 9 years it was the most heartbreaking experience beyond imagination. To watch a bit more of her slip away each day took a part of me with it, “it’s not mom, it’s the disease” became my mantra. Dementia is a cruel thief for everyone – the sufferer and all who love and care for them.

Everyone suffers right along with a dementia patient. Clearly you’ve never had to watch someone you love have their life turned upside down, their memory taken from them and the ability to do even the simplest of things. You’re really missing the whole point of his story. Your a wonderful son!! Thank god your mom has you to help take care of her.
