A lot of today’s parents, there kid comes first. They don’t learn the pecking order. So when they get out in the real world, you see a lot of millennials not respecting adults / entitled.  Ya, in my day my parents came first. You didn’t want to cross the line with my dad.

So when they get out in the real world, you see a lot of millennials not respecting adults / entitled.  Not true at all. I grew up in the 50s/60s, and had the most participatory dad out there! Spent more time with him than i did learning all the ‘women’ skills.

True he didn’t do housework, but he was a great father to me. My dad spent more than 5 minutes with me…in fact, he taught me everything i needed to know and more. Learned how to change a tire, pump gas, cut grass, fix lawnmowers, upholstery repair andcaning chairs…and lots of lessons on life.

My husband did the same with our daughter, and she can put together anything that has a 100 page manual in just a few hours…she owns her own business and was devastated when her dad passed away…it is nice to see fathers take an interest in their kids, especially girls.  I know a lot of dads were probably like the caricature of a 70s dad. But not mine. He was amazing. Involved and there.

I can’t imagine him not being as present in our lives as he was.
