Have i ever wanted to hit someone before? Absolutely, i think we all have. But it’s the intelligent , rational side of us all that tells us that hitting people is stupid and wrong and would hurt someone therefore we don’t do it. I think drinking can remove your ability to actively filter out those thoughts. However, it is not an excuse for acting on them. A lot of people get drunk all the time, a lot of people never hit or hurt another person while they’re drunk.

Someone who would hit someone, especially a supposed “loved one,” while drunk would do it sober too, they’re just probably worse when they’re drunk. That guy’s a tool. I think he would fit in well in prison. Science definitely supports the theory that alcohol doesn’t change who you are, but just removes your ability to micromanage how you present yourself. When you’re drinking (even just one drink) the very first part of your brain that is affected by the alcohol is the cerebral cortex and frontal lobe.

Somewhere in his brain, he had to have wanted to hurt her. Or he wouldn’t have done it when he didn’t have the foresight not to.

I think drinking removes inhibitions, and while when sober, one might not do something, they may still think about doing it, and because they are a good person, they choose not to. However, when drunk, that ability to choose not to is often hampered for many people. People say drinking just brings out “the worst” in people, when i think it brings out more of their actual personality….if they are abusive turds they always are, if they are cheating shitbags…..chances are they always will be.
