The only one person i still feel to this day that truly loved me was my great grandma (mom) i watched her go through this but at a young age i didn’t understand what was happening to her when i visited her.i know your pain!! I think it’s amazing that you are sharing this with the world because people need to know what dementia is really about and when you have a loved one with dementia. I am a registered nurse who has this fascination with alzheimer’s and dementia and would love to make a difference just like you are with this documentary. Been there, nothing like having a conversation with my mom, she has a frown on her face and asks me, “who are you?” glad you documented this. My brothers rarely came to visit her.

I had to do everything. It’s difficult. Is so sorry.. I went threw my best friends mom with dimentia, and also a dear friend of mine also has her mom with dimentia, it’s heart breaking.. Esp when they forget who u r but plz remember the good times.. Ur a wonderful son to do this for her.. She will always love u .

You’re a wonderful son to a mother who needs all of your love even if she doesn’t always know you. Be good to her, she gave you so many beautiful years of her life to share. She may not remember but you obviously do! Hardest thing to do is take their license away. To my mom it was her last piece of independence. Remind yourself if you are having a hard time with making this decision for a parent would you want your parent driving your grandchildren around?

If your parent is giving you a hard time giving up their keys search for a program that will test them verbally before they will even let them take the driving test. My mom took it better coming from a ot than me that she needed to retire from driving. Beautifully done. I think it’s important for people to understand what this does to family . We just went through this with a family member and it’s very hard to know what to do. You did something that is so very special and that is spent time with her.

I lost my mother to this illness in less than 3 months. From the start she had no ideal who i was. It hurts so bad when the person who made you and raised you for 39 yrs no longer knows your name. She has been gone for 6 yrs now. Stay strong.  So just to say i am going thought the same thing, have my dad with alzheimer’s and my mom with dementia. Thank god i have my son with me to deal with all of the The Sailor Queen Shirt you comes up.
