Globally we need to consider whether children of a certain age should be allowed to operate within an on line social media environment. From my observations and discussions I’ve had with parents and friends, it would appear that this is a matter that needs addressing urgently.

We need to understand fully the physiology around its use together with the impact on younger children in particular.It is clear that children are becoming insular and their inability to interact with their peers in many circumstances is caused by spending too little time in the company of others and too much time sitting in front of a computer screen of some description, whether a few minutes at a time on a mobile phone or hours shut away on a laptop etc.

We have to ask what damage this is doing to their mental state and the life skills that they need to develop for the future. I have no knowledge of this particular case but it is so sad to see how this particular medium is being used and the tragic outcome.

Unfortunately we have already seen so many similar cases being highlighted in the Media. It really is time to challenge those that operate social media sites, Governments and most importantly the parents. Should we not at least be restricting access and ensuring that today’s  Smartass February Girl Shirt children are brought up in a safe and protected environment? There is surely suitable technology available to support this as well as the use of education and legislation.
