Those wars had nothing to do with fighting terrorism or protecting freedom/democracy back home, it’s all about profit for the government, banks and corporations.  I was a military working dog handler stationed in the middle east (bahrain) when the towers fell. Anyone that today is still even considering the military for whatever reason i salute you! How many of those classrooms had teachers that canceled lessons to help process what just happened? How many had families that gathered to pray and reassure you that there were people defending our country. That was your safe space. I was in college but also working a full time night shift job and between classes i was taking a nap, my girlfriend woke me up as the second hit.

A memory burned into my mind.  I was sleeping when the first plane hit, and my mom woke me up at about 6:15 a.m. To tell me that a plane had flown into the world trade center. I got up and went to the t.v., just in time to see the second plane hit the other building. I was glued to the news for the next 4 hours; i couldn’t believe what i was seeing, so much chaos and death, it was horrible.

I was working at ruby tuesday at the time, i remember going in for my shift and we ended up closing early that day. Not one person came in. It was difficult to process what happened, but i didn’t need a safe place. You don’t need anyone to hold your hand, grow up!  I was at work. And we did not get the day off… I’ve also lived through several space shuttles blowing up and some other bad stuff too. Seen it on the news and kept going. It was sad and tragic but it didn’t stop me from functioning throughout my day.

I think i was 11 blocks away in class. We heard a loud boom. I can still hear it today. After a couple mins we heard what happened. We looked out the back windows and saw the first building. Our principle told us we were going to continue class. Most of the school did. Got to 2nd period, we heard the other boom and that’s when most if not all left. I was in 10th grade, i knew and saw and felt what happened. Saw people covered in debris felt the second building fall.

Didn’t feel the first and didn’t see them since the other building were in the way. After a few hours, finally got home. Looked up at the pic of the nyc skyline my mom had, turned on the tv and that’s when it hit me. I really don’t think you can compare this. The increase in hate crimes happening after trump was elected was insane and the stuff people had done to them was cruel. There is no shame in that fear because it was and continues to be Snoopy And Charlie Brown Asap Always Say A Prayer Shirt  real. You are comparing apples to oranges.
