Although I cannot verify the correct status of this statement, I have definitely heard that the history books are being rewritten. That key moments of our history, violent and vile as they may be, are being completely taken out. If this is really taking place, which as I’ve said I have not been able to verify it, then I am completely appalled. Holy shit. I just did some searching and found tons of articles on the Texas school book company using alternate terms and teaching a different history.

That is absolutely disgusting.. I wonder how wide of a range of schools received books from that company if it were just isolated or national. Jeremy Closser unfortunately, majority of this nation’s textbooks comes from Texas. It was stated that there will be a rewrite of textbooks however, school and school district who can not afford to replace these books, if and when they are rewritten, will still teach their students the incorrect history of America.  I think we are quick to forget the logistics of the time period and the era in which this was happening as well.

This way of life was a completely different thing than anyone of us today could even fathom. Most of our forefathers were slaveowners. We have had presidents that were slaveowners. Not everybody agreed with it even if they did it and were part of it. Some of these people were just caught up in it, I think we have all read how it was the war that pitted brothers against each other on both the Union and Confederate side based on personal beliefs, and those are just the ones that had a choice in the matter. This whole thing is a really delicate situation, that’s for sure.

It’s been the way of humans since the beginning of time.. From the crusades to recent events. I still feel like these statues aren’t really hurting anybody though. I do get that it’s a reminder to some minorities but it’s not like anything is posted on the statue saying anything negative towards those minorities. I wouldn’t agree with any statue that stood specifically and solely for slavery.
