Nothing to do with cost of food. Son Of Dragons Shirt The system is still broken but people still really need it. We throw enough food away every day to feed all the needy people. People are willing to pay hundreds each month for phones, internet service, vehicles, cable t.v., but are outraged if they have to spend money on things like doctors or food. The amount of money spent on drugs would feed all of the hungry people, and most of the people that are hungry spend their money on either drugs or alcohol. This is just more propaganda, my family qualified for gov’t assistance our whole life, and we still do and we haven’t ever taken any, it’s called priorities!

Carol, the real problem is that some people can’t figure out that there’s a difference between a HAND-OUT and a HAND UP…. we all need a HAND UP once in a while…. we fall on hard times and it’s nice to see that HAND UP to help us get back on our feet again. Patty Kurtz I don’t have a problem with helping someone in need, but we have made people dependent and unwilling to work. When food stamps were first implemented in the late 20’s, they kept track of how much you received and you had to pay it back.

Needless to say, only the really needy signed up, and no one stayed on the program for too long. I totally agree with you, Carol….That’s why I mentioned the HAND-UP comment, and like you stated, the needy only should stay on the programs until they get back on their feet, not expecting to continue to get things handed to them unconditionally and long term….You mentioned that you qualify for assistance and I was encouraging you to use the programs if you and your family have the NEED. Maria Elliott you’re probably right.

I was bent over working for a living cleaning up for people that think that they’re too good to labor and pay their own way!! Except for the part where you decided EVERYONE on assistance is doing that. You confirm it in how you exclude the fact that their are more people who do need and they’re not looking for a handout but a hand up. It’s great you can work some can’t. Many already do but still need assistance. And let’s not forget that whole let’s take care of our vet’s and servicemen because guess what there is a large portion of those that receive assistance.

The problems with assistance can’t be solved with the attitude that all the people who receive it are lazy and just don’t want to work. You hear about those cases because they’re sensational and get a reaction but the one’s you don’t hear about are just as important. That family who got laid off and managed to survive because they got help. Who no longer get it because they got back on their feet. That disabled person who worked their butt off for years but now can barely walk, has a feeding tube and uses food stamps to pay for ensure just to live.

The currently serving in Afghanistan soldier whose wife and child get food stamps because his pay as a soldier doesn’t cut it even combined with what his wife brings home waitressing. Son Of Dragons Shirt Yeah those are the people your disparaging as well. Those are the people your punishing for a “few” bad apples. Tell me there are a few bad cops out there. Do you think we should punish all of them. That they represent all cops? Instead of blanket statements and laws why not just go with. Yes we need reform but let’s make sure we take care of our vulnerable.
