In México we give them an orange flower to supplement the diet, that makes the yolk look more reddish. You are right, the colour of the yolk is just a reflection of the pigments used in the diet, and this is not the only example about that, is also happens with salmon.  Ok so I come from Italy and all my life we had chicken, all healthy and happy free walking in clean environment and I’ve seen all three colours ! We had about 10-15 eggs a day and the colour was never the same…. So I call BS. My grandmother raised chickens and picked her own eggs, growing up on them, they were brown, and the yokes were dark and tasted much better than store bought.

I had a friend give me a bunch from a farmer friend of hers, and yes you can tell the difference, from store bought and farm fresh! This is non sense.We have our chikens and eggs are very diferent,the yolk can be lightest or darknest it can be very diferent on days,even at the same chicken.BUT the taste is way better ,if is farm chicken.  I don’t know how everyone else can tell the difference.. My patents have a chicken coup in their backyard and honestly the eggs taste the same …but i will agree that the yolk is more orange than yellow.

All my life, my mother’s and her mother’s life snd it’s always been the lighter more brighter egg even with duck,quail, pheasant and geese and they were alway scattered in the field and scratching around do wtf!?  Really wish you would do some research. This article is false. Free range chickens are not the healthiest by a large margin. And that corn is more healthy than any insect, parasite, or bacteria that free range chickens ingest. Guess my chickens have it good. They get to wander outside and get fed chicken food.

They aren’t very happy with outside now since it’s winter and there isn’t any green stuff or bugs to eat. This is a ridiculous comment. Chickens like all animals are meant to be free range. They will eat everything and anything and require a rich protein diet to to lay eggs. Which they get from insect and meat. The more varied the diet the healthier the bird. Corn holds almost no nutritional value. It’s a starch. It just fattens because starch turns to sugar & sugar turns to fat. They need a variety in their diet to get all of the nutrients they need, just like we do.

There is a reason we control the environment, Spaceship Timeline Shirt it’s safer and healthier. The meat and eggs produced are all better for you because you cannot control the diet and environment of a free range chicken. It’s a hobby to run free range birds, not a sustainable source of food for the country. Also, it’s not just corn, there are many other ingredients in poultry feed that provide all the nutrients the need including protein. Chickens are mostly muscle, not fat. Fat is not sustainable so it would be a waste of money to produce a fat chicken.
