India is destined to become the largest producer of milk in next few years and I guess the largest exporter of beef automatically. For Indians food starts and stops at milk – for a weak child most doctors recommend milk and paneer.

U hardly see a good vegetarian dish today in restaurants without paneer or milk. Milk is just ingrained in Indian good habits. Trying to spread awareness but where are vegan options available – people want convinience – yogurt and milk are available freely but vegan options are very hard to get for a common person even in cities but very costly to buy. Not sure what I wrote just went with the flow. May be but this came out of experience – I convinced quite a few people to go off milk – they were convinced for health reasons but went back to milk for reasons mentioned above.

Tejas – that’s what I am saying if this vegan movement has to grow in a big way – we need options in the shelf at around the same cost of milk – I get frustrated – more than a few people are ready to change but I cannot give them any substitute at the same cost and convinience. There’s a person on my office having income of less than 10 k a month – the couple are very short of time – they cannot buy almond milk / soy milk. Milk is just so convinient for them and their children.  I am trying to convey I want vegan movement to become a mass movement and for that we have to understand people will not do away with milk – that is ingrained – so vegan substitutes are needed to readily available.

If you take into account the resources required and the waste produced to make these products, the cost would automatically go up. A burger would logically cost you more than 2,500 bucks.
