Yes I agree Jonathan is a great name!!! Jmo… Yes I am an army veteran….I teach my children to respect there elders! But I also teach my children to have common sense, just because a person is older, doesn’t make them “smarter”!!!! I will say most are wiser, but that being said, Sugar Skull But Did You Die Though Shirt, I don’t know any dumb enough to praise obumer…. I have only recently became “political” not because of the news, or Facebook, bit because I’m sick of seeing our country run into the gutter. Now that being said.

I have served my country, provided many years of selfless service during much personal tough times! (Being a dad across the Earth (twice) to not even enjoy something as simple and gratifying as to watch the birth of your children) not including the stress to your wife…. For something to have nothing to show for!!!! Thanks for the gloat. Thanks for the reply, Jonathan. It is greatly appreciated as is your service and your wife’s time as a mom at home with you fighting for all of us. Without intention of disrespecting you, I wish to point out that your remarks above were (are) disrespectful.
It is something I do not understand… how a parent feels they are teaching their children yet what they are doing is quite the opposite. I am not sure I can agree with teaching children that because someone is older does not mean they are smarter. That leans to allowing them to disrespect those you say they are taught to respect. However, that is your choice and just my thoughts. I truly am not telling you how I would raise your children. I have seen many, including those my age, grow up to be a “chip off the old block” with anger and name calling as you wrote in your reply. You and I may have decades between our ages, yet we have something in common. I will start a new comment to continue on this point.

You wrote, “I have only recently became “political” not because of the news, or Facebook”… that’s it! That is what we have in common. The reason it took me so long is this… I grew up with two older family members having a few (or more) drinks every weekend and later having what may have been a debate over politics and religion. To the child I was at the time, it was fighting or arguing. I absolutely refused to have more than a very short discussion over either topic until last year. Jonathan, that meant I did not have a major discussion outside of a very small circle of family and a friend over decades. How did I come to write here about all of this? Ha, it was not easy! (Continuing below)
A retired officer had lost all respect I had for him due to his words, which were angry and all I am against being on social media. I shared my suggestion of stepping back to look at ourselves. I did not expect this rough, “I am right and you don’t have to like it” man to give it a thought. Within a couple days, he shared personal things that explained what I had been reading however, that did not regain my respect. Yet he stepped up showing that he is an officer and a gentleman when he wrote a post that his comments were written when he angry at the television.
Obviously, something he was watching on television was the fuel for his anger. He did that without a nudge from me and renewed my respect for him two-fold as that is the sign of a strong individual. This is the end of my sharing. As I close, my thoughts are this. Sugar Skull But Did You Die Though Shirt. We do not have to like anyone, yet we cannot be sure that if we delete something we have written that it is gone. We live in a world of screenshots that may one day come back to haunt those who may, then, wish they had not written what has surfaced. I do not see social media as our hometown streets or homes where we sit with family and friends discussing many topics with words and name calling being the norm for unknown numbers. Yet, that is what many do far too often on social media.
