So people are too stupid to understand that the white woman takes her shirt off and becomes yet another woman? As my teacher taught us, saying someone is stupid for taking a specific conclusion doesn’t help so, i’ll explain what happened from a professional of communication point of view.

What happened there was a semantic noise. They could have made the add to mean that dove is for all types of skin but, during the execution, specifically the semiotic usage, they made a mistake, using misleading representations. When the add got to the interpreter (us possible users of the product) the porpoise of the add loses its original meaning because of this tiny little bad usage of the signs (all the things that make the add “physically” speaking).

So, dove could or could not have made this add with good intentions, but this type of noise makes all the work go to waste because all you have at the end is the twisted misleading meaning.
