We finished our school day. In high school martin luther king and This Is My Ugly Christmas Sweater robert kennedy were assassinated. We didn’t leave school. We didn’t leave work when hostages were taken and murdered during the olympics, the uss cole, and the list st goes on..and we certainly didn’t leave class or work because of a presidential election. This country has raised a generation of whinny crybaby wankers.

If the milleniulls that still have a brain don’t raise their children right and fight against indoctrinating schools and colleges. When my generation is gone you and this country will be screwed. I clearly remember sitting in english when i was told about the first tower. We had tvs on in all of the rest of our classes that day and watched the second tower fall. I don’t think any of us really had a clue what that meant for our country or the lives lost. When we left school that day, i remember the lines at all the gas stations where people were trying to get gas for $5 a gallon. Very vividly. Reading all these comments.

We all remember that day, what we were doing, where we were. I was 14, at home sick that day. I turned on the tv to find something to watch and the first tower was on fire, i’ll never forget seeing the second plane hit. Knowing i just watched people die, in one instant, it was over. I walked over to my grandma’s house and she had set up her new video camera to record the news. She said this is history. My mom worked at the airport, in packaging and they had multiple bomb threats that day and in the days after. It was a terrifying time.

But the pride i gained that day, the love for my country and it’s people is in my heart forever. I was turned 41 just a month after 9/11. I never served in the military but i respect the hell out of anyone who does or has. My daddy was a marine, in the pacific during wwii and stateside during korea as a drill instructor, i believe. His younger brother was in the navy in wwii, and that younger brother has 2 grandsons now serving in the marines. I respect any person who puts on any uniform in defense of this country, in any war they have been or will be involved in or in peacetime.

My daddy and the rest of the “greatest generation” would be sick to see this latest generation of “participation trophy” wusses and to think that they might be the future “leaders” of any society, but much less the greatest country on the face of the planet……. That was a sad day. I was in the 6th grade we all met in the assembly room for an hour of silence and prayer for the ones who died and the police and fire working to save who they could. When i went home we talked about it.

I remember how pissed my dad was he was to old to re-enlist in the marines. Lots of my older friends did enlist after that. I was on a plane flying from california to florida with my three boys. I was a year out of the marines. We got grounded in houston. I had to explain to my boys who were 11, 6 and 4 what had happened in an airport with crying strangers what had just happened and why we had to now drive to where we were moving. My 4 year old told me it was because the bad guys didn’t get enough hugs from theirThis Is My Ugly Christmas Sweater when they were little.
