It’s a character, with costume specifics. If they were going as a random chinese bride, random native american, or random polynesian child, it’s another thing. But are you really going to tell a little Van Gogh Starry Night Nasa Shirt she can’t be her favorite disney princess for halloween? Yeah, see how well that goes over.

Let kids be kids. The worst thing that can happen is they may take an interest in a different culture. Stop putting adult prejudices on kids and let them be anything they want to be.. No, no it doesnt “get complicated” with children’s costumes. If a child wants to be that character so what? It doesn’t insult anyone.

Contrary it shows that this character was a positive influence. One who doesn’t give up…i don’t see a problem. Those of you who do, have bigger issues. My children will wear whatever they want and be whatever they want. I draw the line at painting them black or trying to make them look or appear black, that’s messed up.

My 5 year old wanted to be dead shot or the i am legend character both played by will smith. Never once did he mention anything( because they’re raised not to) to do with the color of their skin. He was just excited to dress up as one of his heros! Of course it’s ok! Dress how you like.

These things as far as i know only become issues when people decide to do “black face” etc. Otherwise i can’t imagine why a little kid looking up to or wanting to be like someone that may not look exactly like them would be a problem. It’s super sweet! This whole type of thinking confuses me.

We are a melting pot for a country right? Let’s simplify it down to crayons for a moment. We start with a red and a blue crayon. We throw them in a pot tomelt. As it starts to melt and come together we lose the ridgedboundary between red and blue, it swirls until we can no longer Van Gogh Starry Night Nasa Shirt between red and blue, but are left with purple.
