I could see how it sounds that way though… I’d like to know why I still can’t buy Season 1 of Stranger Things on DVD, Wonder Woman Ugly Christmas Sweater, and why I still can’t stream popular Marvel and DC movies that they have, and why they’re only available to be mailed out.Maybe if movie ticket prices were not $15-20/ticket and concession stand price gouging wasn’t what it was I’d be more empathetic. Netflix costs less than $10. Netflix all the way. It doesn’t cost ~$50 for two people to watch a movie, eat snacks and popcorn, and have something to drink at home watching a Netflix movie versus going to the theater to see a Hollywood movie that’s probably in its 5th remake/reboot order another sequel to an already average movie.

Will never give up The Alamo Drafthouse! I go there because there are no commercials, they enforce the no cell phone/no talking rule, and children are only allowed in movies appropriate for their age. The food is amazing, and if you are spending many dollars on snacks, why not get actual food for the same price at the Alamo. So grateful they have expanded outside of Texas. I love the Alamo that has opened near me in Virginia and their baby friendly movies on Tuesday morning kept me sane during the past year!I’d much rather utilize my own home theater setup and enjoy it on my couch then go to the movies.
If you stopped charging me $8.00 for 50 cents worth of pop corn and $5.50 for a soda that costs $1 for double the size at a grocery store I might consider it worth it. $65 for my family of 4 to go the movies is ridiculous. The movie costs me $30 for UHD if available or $15-20 for blu ray. Unless my kids are hell bent on seeing it I wait and get to own it. My 3K home theater setup is on par with the theater in sound and picture quality. Streaming is even better, pay the subscription and stream it in 4K UHD with Dolby Digital 5.1. Movie theater? Hah.

Assigned seating and reclining chairs has been it better but the costs of concessions and the tickets is not inline for what you get. I’m excited for new content and a different model–hopefully one which also allows more diversity than what has been able to break through the Hollywood process. Who still goes to the movies? Between obnoxious folks talking or on their phone and the outrageous prices, I haven’t been in 10 years and have no intention of going. Netflix and Redbox are it for me!I’d so rather be able to watch newly released movies on Netflix than spend an arm and a leg to go to the movies while also having to coordinate plans of when to actually find time to even go in the first place.
Whys they cancel sense8 and so many other great shows…. you’re focusing a tens of millions on a 2 hr spiel when you could’ve had ten times that with the same amount of money…. i don’t buy Netflix for movies i but it for series. This guys not gonna have a job in a year. Most of the time I’d rather watch a movie at home, but sometimes it’s not the same experience. I watched The Revenant on the big screen when it first came out, then I watched it 3 weeks ago at home. It was a very different experience, especially the bear attack scene.Probably a lot better at home, without the sticky armrests, fake butter smell, commute to the theater, inability to pause for a bathroom break, and cost.
I don’t want to save a trip to the movie theater…I want movies to be BETTER so I have a REASON to go to the theater. Wonder Woman Ugly Christmas Sweater. Even at the most obnoxious prices they charge today…The movie theater is still one of the best values in entertainment. Try going to a concert or a sporting event for the same amount as a movie.Besides the rising cost of going out to the movies ( which I prefer), the selection has been abysmal for the last decade. Recycled garbage and endless superhero movies gets old quick.
