This is from Cayuga Speedway. Dale just won the IROC race at MIS, flew in on a helicopter. They delayed the start of the race so he could participate. He didn’t last long though as he was involved in an early wreck that essentially ended his day.

That is at Cayuga Speedway in Ontario Canada. 1983. Dale started last because someone else qualified the car for him and he won the race. Bobby Allison was in that race too. Looking at Dale’s helmet I think this might be from the first test session in the C5 that was held a Sebring – I could be wrong though. That car was an old Rusty Wallace Racing car. If I remember correctly I think this is the only race that Dale used it in. I watched that race on a 9″ black and white tv . I was at work at the time and had lookouts so I didn’t get caught .
